Kharkov flights from Kiev and Europe
The Ukrainian city of Kharkov has it’s own airport located to the south east of the city. Flights arrive frequently from Kiev and from several other locations. The only direct flights from western or central Europe is Austrian Airlines departing from Vienna.
What is the cheapest?
The cheapest option is to travel in winter or early spring when prices are at their lowest. Whatever the season it is always best to try and book in advance as the price of seats will increase as more are sold. If you can be flexible with your dates then you are more likely to catch a good deal.Try to avoid public holidays and remember last minute deals are possible as not all flights will sell out – especially in the winter/spring months.
Ukraine International Airlines
Ukraine International Airlines consistently offer affordable flights from London Gatwick and other European airports direct to Kiev where an additional connecting flight to Kharkov is possible. The cost will vary but my last return flight to Kiev cost £160 inc taxes with an additional £60 for the return flight to Kharkov.
British Airways also offer reasonably priced (sometimes) flights to Kiev but they do not fly to Kharkov. Other airlines include Lot (Poland), BMI and Lufthansa.
When booking a flight it is best to try and do so at least three months before your preferred travel date. Ukraine International Airline flights often reach capacity on weekends and during busy summer months.
Direct flights from London to Kharkov?
Currently (March 2010) it is not possible to purchase a Kharkov flight direct from London. Austrian Airlines offer flights from London Heathrow to Kharkov via Vienna, however these are often the most expensive flights and frequently exceed £500.
